The World Wide Web is jokingly called the World Wide Wait. Some web sites expect people to wait and wait and wait. People do not wait. They are very impatient. They will leave your site if they do not see something very quickly that interests them.

People scan the content area of your home page - looking for information. People on the web are pro-active, not passive couch potatoes. They look for information. When they cannot find it or have to wait for it they will leave.

Good web design will have fast loading pages.
